Interim Valley West NEA Director Election

The UTLA Elections Committee announced at the November 8, 2023, Valley West Area Meeting that there is a vacancy for the Valley West NEA Board of Director position. Thus, a special election for the Valley West Area is necessary. The term is for three years starting when the UTLA Board of Directors certifies the election. The term ends in June 2026. Only Valley West UTLA Area members are eligible to vote in this special election.

This vacancy will be filled in a special election to be held on January 17, 2024, at the UTLA Valley West Area Meeting. Candidates may declare their intent to run after the November 8, 2023, Area meeting by completing the online Declaration of Candidacy Form. Please review the UTLA Election Manual for additional information.

Only nominations submitted online will be accepted. Candidates must have been a member in good standing for 24 months prior to November 8, 2023. They also must work in the Valley West Area.

The deadline for declarations is Friday January 12, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Itinerant educators who work in Valley West Area and wish to vote must fill out an Itinerant Assignments Declaration Form. The special election will be held at the Valley West Area Meeting on January 17, 2024, after the candidates have given a brief presentation to the Area Assembly. The results will be verified and posted on this website. The Board of Directors will certify the election of the NEA Valley West Area Director on January 24, 2024.
